I have been struggling with a lot while working on my 306 paper. The main problem I have been having, other than not have had Wi-Fi, is that statistical analysis is hard. For the first part of my paper I am using a replicated model, and while that eliminates controlling for some variables it does make the process easy. It look me awhile to track down the data I thought would be easy to access, and I had to hack the Duke Library to access it. The biggest blow to my paper though has been the fact that I found out that data on the rates of education in different regions of Nigeria simply does not exist. I was able to receive some background information on the topic and am conducting more research as we speak, but may switch to a different case study where data is more available, even though it makes me very sad. I am however somewhat happy because this means I do not have to do more stats. I am excited to do more research on the topic as opposed to simply be crunching numbers as I have been so far. -this is michaela's blog she has been trying to do this and it will not let her
In this blog the AU Global Scholars document their efforts in applying rigorous research methods to their projects in the field of international studies. The aim is to briefly present a challenge that they encountered AND the solution they came up with, such that their peers can respond and/or learn.
I have been using the demographics and health surveys of countries within Africa, such as Nigeria. I think the information you are looking for might be in there. The one I found is from 2013 and its a collaboration of the Nigerian government and organization's such as USAID and UNFPA. I think you should really look into it before you switch your case study!
