The biggest change to my project is that I now have four cases: Iceland, Japan, Russia, and the US. I picked these cases based on a two-by-two that I set up involving the age of the democracy against the existence of gender-related literature in the state's constitution. Iceland is the old democracy with gender rights in the constitution, Russia is the new democracy with gender rights in the constitution, America is the old democracy without gender rights in the constitution and Japan is the new democracy without gender rights in the constitution. This way, I can look at both variables as potential causes for current gender rights infractions. I also plan to incorporate statistics into my project as well as content analysis.
In this blog the AU Global Scholars document their efforts in applying rigorous research methods to their projects in the field of international studies. The aim is to briefly present a challenge that they encountered AND the solution they came up with, such that their peers can respond and/or learn.
